Each facility is just over 60,000 sf. In addition to typical a renovation, the scope of work included interior excavation to facilitate the indoor swimming pools and saunas and reconfiguration of the façade to create new store front, windows and a custom metal exterior flush wall. Facility amenities offer a complete wellness experience with basketball and racquetball courts; free weight room; cardio deck, high energy cycle rooms; cross-function training; team and personal training space, fitness cinema, and steam room; hydro-massage lounge, ADA accessibility and KidCare space.
The projects represent the evolution of repurposing vacant retail spaces and infusing new life into old malls. Chandler at Alma School and Ray Road was built in the space formerly occupied by a mattress and furniture store. VASA Thunderbird located at North 43 rd Avenue and Thunderbird was previously occupied by a Mervyns department store.
