The construction industry has designated Women in Construction Week as a time to recognize, inspire, and congratulate hardworking, talented women in a typically male-dominated field. We at Caliente Construction are active supporters of this mission. We want to take a moment to appreciate, inspire, and congratulate the women making a difference in the A/E/C industry. In honor of Women in Construction Week, we wanted to hear personal experiences from women at our company.

Meet Faelyn Fox, Marketing Coordinator

Faelyn has been a Marketing Coordinator for four years within the A/E/C industry. Her background is in Marketing and Graphic Design, and she has been with Caliente for two years.

What she has to say:

What has been the most memorable moment in your career?

My most memorable moment was my first awarded Statement of Qualifications. At that moment, I felt I had accomplished something big for myself and the company.

What are the advantages of being a woman in construction?

The strong and supportive network of women supporting women in the industry. I love the growth that happens here, especially for women. So many great women are trailblazing the way for others and offering a hand-up to us newer ladies.

What advice would you give to a young woman entering the industry?

Find your network, work with a mentor – especially another woman, and build strong relationships with those around you.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is the creativity that is part of Marketing and the approach of highlighting the best things about Caliente Construction.

How do you think construction can attract more female candidates?

If we get women in at a young age and show them that building great things is not just for boys, it will take off. We could do this with programs for schools and changes in mindset around what is or is not for girls.

What makes you proud of working at Caliente Construction?

I love the company culture at Caliente Construction. Inclusivity is so important to me, and I love all of the family events. They do make me feel like I am part of the family and that they care about my well-being.

What do you think is the most important change happening in the construction industry?

More than ever, the need to build trusting relationships with owners is at the forefront of every job we get. Having lasting partnerships with owners, subconsultants, subcontractors, and suppliers is essential.
